Start - Lindenborg Å

The most normal starting point on Lindenborg Å is by Vælderskoven. Vælderskoven (9520 Skørping) is the name of the road where the canoes are put in the river. It is located close to Thingbæk Lime Mines and there are good parking conditions close to the loading site.

At Vælderskoven, Lindenborg Å is not yet that wide and deep, it is the first insertion site and it is beautifully located at the bottom of Rebild Bakker. 

Lindenborg Å is suitable for canoeing, sea kayaking, double kayaking or Stand Up Paddleboard.

It is also possible to rent mountain bikes to cycle back to the starting point. When renting a mountain bike, they will be delivered to your final destination. Renting a mountain bike costs 250, - pr. pcs including delivery and collection. 

Klepholm
Possible final destination

Vælderskoven - Klebholm is a trip of approx. 8 kilometers. Klebholm is a good place for overnight stays. Here is shelter, primitive toilet, but there is no drinking water. It is not an ideal place to pick up the equipment as they have to be carried 250 meters up to the car park. If you choose Klepholm as the final destination, the equipment can be dropped off at the car park and not by the water.

Duration: 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours + breaks. The duration depends on the current and how many forces one is in.

Støvringvej
Possible final destination

The most common trip by canoe is from Vælderskoven to Støvringvej, it is a trip of 9.5 kilometers.

Duration: 2 hours to 3 hours + breaks. The duration depends on the current and how many forces one is in. 

The equipment can be handed in where you come up and there is a short distance to the parking lot.

If you want to cycle from Støvringvej to Vælderskoven, it is a trip of approx. 15 kilometers.

Haals Bro
Possible final destination

Another popular trip is from Vælderskoven to Haals Bro, a trip on 16.5 kilometers.

Haals Bro is also an obvious place to stay if you take a 2 day trip.

Duration: 3.5 hours to 5.5 hours + breaks. The duration depends on the current and how many forces you put in. 

The equipment can be handed in where you come up, where there is also a parking space.

Lindenborg Estate
Possible final destination

The good day trip from Vælderskoven to Lindenborg Estate, it is a trip of 20.5 kilometers.

Duration: 4 hours to 7 hours + breaks. The duration depends on the current and how many forces one is in. 

The equipment can be handed in where you come up and there is the possibility of parking along the road.

Limfjorden
Possible final destination

Take the trip all the way to the Limfjord. The trip from Vælderskoven to the Limfjord is a trip of 36.5 kilometers.

If you take the trip to the Limfjord in a canoe, it is obvious to take an overnight stay at Haals Bro after approx. 16.5 kilometers. In a kayak, the trip, for the cool, can be taken in a single day 🙂

General information about sailing on Lindenborg Å

At Lindenborg Å, sailing takes place from Vælderskoven and is one-way.

To ensure the experience also in the future, the Users' Council at Lindenborg Å has prepared good advice on sensible and considerate sailing:

  • do not sail with tied vessels
  • keep distance between vessels
  • competitive sailing does not belong on the river
  • banks and reed forest must not be sailed on
  • sailing in springs and streams is prohibited.
  • waste must be taken home or in the waste bags of the rest areas
  • avoid noise - let nature create the sounds.
  • take into account anglers and exposed fishing gear
  • fishing by vessels is prohibited.
  • Loading, hauling and landing is only permitted at the pick-up points marked on the map 
  • Fishing huts and wind shelters are private property and may not be used
  • Bonfires and barbecues may only be lit in the designated rest and accommodation areas 
  • Camping and accommodation may only be done with the broad owner's direct permission

How far you get in an hour depends on the current and how much power you put in. But an average of 3-5 kilometers per hour is realistic.
